Black Lives Matter.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere…Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”

The late, great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote these words from a Birmingham Jail in 1963. And, yet, those words still hold true today as 2020 continues to run its course.

2020 has jokingly become our “Year of the Apocalypse,” things unfolding, shaking up our country, and even our world. We live in a time where masks are a part of the daily outfit, hand-washing is done on repeat until our hands become raw, the fear of “killer” hornets hovers in the back of our minds, where buying toilet paper is like hitting the lottery, and everyday tasks aren’t so every day anymore.

This uncertainty of 2020 continues…and now, with the current racial and political climate, we continue being at a standstill.

We, at Aradia Fitness Triangle, are saddened with the current events that have unfolded in the recent weeks and months. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those who have lost loved ones, but especially to the families of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd.

The racial dynamic of our country runs deep within our history as Americans. From slavery to lynching, to being called racial slurs, African-Americans have endured much in a country in which they helped to create. In a society that has often times ignored the plight of African-Americans, we say no more. It is long past time to stand strong & accept nothing less the #equalityforall and #justiceforall ⚖️ Black Lives Matter! .

We must come together to keep our communities safe, to prevent these injustices from happening, and stand strong for all of our brothers and sisters. What has been happening could easily have been one us, one of you, or someone you know. It is not okay. It should not happen. And it cannot happen again. .

We see you.
We hear you.
We stand with you.

COVID-19: When do we get to dance together again?

With the latest updates from our governor, we wanted to take a moment to share our plans for re-opening that follow along with the state’s 3-Phase Plan to Re-Open NC. There are many factors we have to consider and still many unknowns that can alter these plans at any time. We’ll keep rolling with the changes as best we can, keeping the safety of our staff & YOU (our clients) paramount at all times!

On Friday May 8th, the State of North Carolina entered the governor’s Phase I plan. Gyms & fitness facilities are NOT included in this part of the opening process. We will continue to operate as we have been, uploading class videos to Aradia Fitness Online and offering “pay what you can” live-stream classes in our private Facebook forum. Be sure to tune into our social media pages (Facebook & Instagram) for some fun community events & challenges to spice up your movement routine.

Phase I of the state’s re-opening plan is anticipated to last around 3 weeks, Depending on the virus trends & data, it will be late May before the governor assesses whether or not to move the state to Phase II. When Phase II arrives, facilities such as ours have been included in the list of non-essential businesses that will be allowed to resume operations!

Here’s what Phase II will most likely look like for Aradia Fitness Triangle. We anticipate there will be strict rules that we will have to follow in order to comply with the Phase II opening strategies. Some of these rules may include limited class sizes, temperature checks, and social distancing regulations for participants & staff.

Due to the nature of pole & aerial classes, we will NOT be resuming pole or aerial classes in Phase II. For us, your safety is top priority – until we are permitted to return to “hands-on” instruction, we won’t be able to safely spot class participants or work in close proximity to each other. Your Aradia Fitness Triangle team also does not feel it would be responsible of us resume full operations so early on.

We do, however, hope to resume small group fitness classes during Phase II. If we can adhere to the state’s guidelines they set forth, and if we feel we can provide a safe & healthy environment to work out in, Aradia Fitness Triangle has created a plan to open!

During Phase II, we will be creating longer breaks between classes to prevent congregation as well as to allow us to clean the workout rooms after each class. Class sizes will limited and adjusted accordingly due to the room sizes. Both the Cary & Fuquay-Varina classes will offer a variety of group fitness & movement classes that do not require hands-on spotting, shared workout space, or shared equipment. For those that do not feel comfortable returning to a group environment quite that soon, we plan to live-stream many of the classes via Zoom. These will require signing up in advance using class credits or memberships; participants will be sent a class link shortly before class start time. We have also discussed with our staff that they may return to teaching classes during Phase II, or later, depending on their personal comfort level at the time.

We will follow the preventative measures provided by health & government agencies as they are released to us. Staff & clients will be continually reminded NOT to come into the studio if they have been ill, feel ill, or been exposed to someone with COVID-19. Management is installing hand sanitizer stations in the lobby areas and we have already invested in commercial-grade air purifying/disinfecting systems that will be placed in each movement room.

Phase III is still quite a ways away. As we get closer to that time, we will share the strategies & plans we have in mind for transitioning into Phase III… which will likely be the new “normal” for all of us for some time.

At the end of the day, we will need to remain fluid and adapt to news, updates, and changes as they come in (as the saying goes, “the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry”). We are so very grateful for the support, patience, and community spirit all of you continue to give all of us at Aradia Fitness! THANK YOU for being our cheerleaders!
